Simple Tips to Keep Your Flowers Fresh

We really do want your flowers to stay fresh as long as possible! Here are some things you can do to make the beauty last...

  • Start with a clean vase
  • Remove any leaves that are below the water line
  • Trim flower stems at a 45-degree angle
  • Use flower food with each water change
  • Change water every day or 2 and rinse out your vase
  • If flowers with hairy stems are present (ex. sunflowers & zinnias), you can add a couple of drops of bleach to the vase water to prevent bacteria growth
  • Keep out of direct sunlight
  • Keep bouquet away from ripening fruit

As flower stems sit in your vase, bacteria will grow in the water. All of these tips will help reduce bacteria growth, as well as ensure that your bouquet has enough water to thrive!
